The American Humane Society says that pets are happiest when they are at home surrounded by familiar sights, sounds, and smells. In the past pet owners had no choice but to leave their pets in a kennel. Although pets are taken care of(most of the time) in these type facilities they become stressed. They are in the presence of unfamiliar surroundings and unfamiliar companions. I know that when I have kenneled my pets in the past that they slept for almost a day when they arrived back home. On occasions my pet has become sick because of an improper diet or contracted something from another animal.
